I always find ‘how to deal with stress,’ columns in magazines, very stressful! At that moment, I am only looking for a solution to my tension and not what causes it. If I wanted to know what is causing my stress, I would just have to reflect on how my day went. However, what most people do not know is that their health is their responsibility and not that of the other people around them. One of the problems with stress, although, it can be a good motivator to get things done, is that it has a negative effect your health and your relationships. The best way to deal with stress therefore is to relax. Here is a quick guide to help you relax. It will guide you to a nice place where everything gets back in perceptive.
Firstly, think positively. Focus on the beauty in everything.
Secondly, avoid people that are constantly complaining or angry. Stress can be contagious, so avoid all transmitters. You need to understand that there is always a solution to each problem.
Thirdly, avoid toxic people. Spend less time with people who try to guilt you into doing things or tell you are not good enough, even if they are family.
Fourth, stop feeling guilty. Guilt is a potent source of stress. Avoid situations that make you feel guilty, do not let destructive behavior sabotage your well being.
Fifth, learn to prioritize. Make a list of things you want to achieve in a day and follow it, otherwise you will find yourself running around like a headless chicken.
You also need to learn how to breathe. Take deep breathes, count to five and exhale, you find yourself less tense within minutes.
Lastly smile, smile, smile and smile. Always allow yourself to have a hearty laugh ever so often!
