Young and fresh, 17 year old Lady X; is the freshest thing to come out of L’s city. Greek- Malawian born and bred, X is by far the only female emcee ready to take up her reign. With two singles in the bag “Control” featuring Pha Ella and “Release Me” she plans claim her slice of the pie in Malawian hip hop. She raps with originality that comes from the heart. Lady X also happens to be a soulful songstress, inspired by the like of Christina Aguilera and Beyonce.
Lady X describes her sound as a fusion. It is birth of hip hop and soul’s love child. Not afraid to flaunt her swagga she states “take or leave it, she is here to do her thing, hip hop is hip hop whether you are female or male, it depends on who spits the hardest!” She shrugs off the race card as irrelevant because in the end it all comes down skill. She warns that she is not just another wanna-be female white rapper, she is an emcee with skill. In her short career she has opened for hip hop artist 3rd Eye. This is her hustle and she is giving all she’s got. Inspired by contemporary greats such as Lauryn Hill and Jay-z; Lady X’s album is one to look out for this end December.
