What started out as a lazy Sunday afternoon ended up being a hype fun day at Civil Club grounds in Lilongwe. The Youth Net and Counseling (YONECO) in association with Bass and Truth Entertainment decided to give to back to young and vulnerable children through a fundraising music concert. YONECO a non political, nonprofit making and nongovernmental organization was formed in September 1997 to aid the youth, women and children. The NGO’s programmes focus on economic empowerment, youth leadership and participation, youth health, and education and training.
The fundraising highly publicized in print and online media called for patronage of the concert and donations such as clothes, toys, blankets, and books for the children’s basic needs. The show dubbed “Do It For The Kids!” sported performances from artistS such as Lioness who played host, Biriwiri, 3rd Eye, Sally Nyudo, Pittie Boys, Phyzix, Ice Kapp and Simba and new female hip hop artist Rina to mention a few. However, it was the YONECO’s Children Band that stole the show, leaving the crowd awe. The show ended with an acappella performance by 3rd Eye and Sally Nyudo calling for oneness in all we do.
